Been sorting out creative-related things in my head today. Still not anything new put to paper but I'm like, revising stuff. Simplified the syllable structure of one of my conlangs because it was kind of nonsense before. I think I've talking about this conlang before; the syllable structure was CVC except one consonant is optional, so you could have CV(C) or (C)VC. This I think technically works but languages don't usually work like that, I just had to work around the rules regarding syllabic vowels (word initial only). But now it's just CV(C), and only sonorants and /h/ and /x/ can be the second consonant because I am now nerd enough to know what a sonority hierarchy is and how it relates to syllables. I'm still not sure what to do regarding a specific word (Midro) because in my mind I kind of want the syllable-final restriction to be something that came about over time rather than just an out-of-universe change in how it works. Maybe the d just gets dropped but I'm curious what sound it could have possibly moved to instead? Looking at the consonant chart the closest "legal" sound is /n/ but I don't think I like how "Minro" sounds and I'm honestly not sure how sound evolution works anyway?
